Exhibit #5:
This oil painting takes the viewer into Stony Brook’s Avalon Park. This is a walk often enjoyed by the artist and her dog when the wind is too chilling to walk by the harbor. In the painting you can see the strong shadows cast by the trees as the sun comes from the clear winter sky following a deep snow storm. Some trees also add a golden shimmer they maintain a tenacious hold on a few leaves remaining from autumn. The artist continually studies the rhythm of shadows and holds strong interest in their defining impact on representational artwork.
