Color plays an important role in my paintings. I use a limited palette based almost entirely on earth colors (used by the old masters). This, plus an under painting of red ocher, brings harmony to the colors on the canvas. Sometimes a little red ocher is left to peek through the impasto giving added depth and vibrance to the painting.
The painting seen here called 'Clay Lady' is of a pottery figure that I am very fond of. I have a much lager painting of this same subject. This is part of a series of still life paintings, other titles in this series include: 'Oriental Jar' and 'Blue Tea Caddy'.
