Desires and How We Did It:
Jane wanted us to restore her whole mouth. She realizes her teeth are too yellow and by doing her smile she will gain more self confidence. Existing teeth are chipped and she avoids photographs as black fillings show when she smiles. She wishes to fix her whole mouth. Jane needed her bite (occlusion) changed and opened up. Her bite, as you can see from the photographs, was too closed.

Her treatment included a mouth guard type of appliance called an orthotic. This put her jaw in a prescribed position in which her facial muscles are relaxed and comfortable as well as her jaw. We then restored her whole upper arch in two appointments. Replacing old black worn out fillings with porcelain, creative gum sculpting with the laser to achieve a softened feminine line angle as the teeth emerge out of the gums (gingiva), and restorations (Porcelain Empress Crowns) to restore the bite (occlusion). When we rehabilitated her occlusion we were are able to change her facial esthetic dimensions and make then more symmetrical. Having all the facial proportions correct defines beauty. In this case Jane’s lower third of the face (how far the chin is away from the nose) is short. When we open the bite (occlusion- her chin is now further from her nose). We made it possible by changing her bite (occlusion) and now the lower third of the face is more in proportion with the rest of her face, a proportion that coincides with facial beauty. After we restored the upper we then proceeded to restore the whole lower arch (with Empress all Porcelain Crowns) to this new bite (occlusion) and also did creative cosmetic gum contouring. This improved not only Jane’s smile, teeth and bite (occlusion) but also her facial esthetic dimensions (non- surgical face lift).
