We specialize in individual attention and support to those suffering with ARD and their families. Some financial support is available to those who qualify. We are now able to offer referrals to doctors and hospitals with knowledge of ARD and associated disorders, help apply for SSI and medicade, and for those that are turned down from receiving SSI, we are able to refer attorneys that specialize in such matters. We can refer experienced pain management specialists and offer spiritual and emotional support to one another. In addition we are also an environmentally conscious foundation.

My name is Augusta Sisler, I have been suffering with Adhesions since 1997. Prior to my illness I had a surgical assistant for six years. I began the World Adhesion Foundation because local doctors didn’t about adhesions and were unable to help me. I began researching the disease myself because I never wanted another living soul to face the frustration of Adhesion Disease alone, as I had.

The World Adhesion Foundation Inc. is a not for profit Foundation. Our mission is to support and further research for the treatment of Adhesion Related Disease (ARD) that stems from prior surgical operations; disseminated information, scientific reports and statistical data to increase public awareness and knowledge of ARD; plan, formulated and implemented programs, projects and activities in cooperation with government agencies, and other organizations with respect to the treatment of ARD; raise and disburse funds to support the research and treatment of ARD.

We are currently working on getting a research center started at Stony Brook University Hospital with the stocks that were donated to the foundation. We are currently abl to offer support group meetings an offer scholarship Programs to medical students that wish to research ARD, surgical abdominal adhesions and associated disorders.
